About Us

Jamisons’ Center of Kindness, Inc. was founded in 2003, on the foundation of kindness, consideration and respect for the less fortunate. The organization, and the structure of its historical primary office location, is in memory of Horace Jamison, Sr. and his wife Clara. Commendations should also be given to the great works of community service provided by their children Clarence Jamison and Horace Jamison, Jr. In honor and tradition of the family’s history of community service, Jeraldine Jamison Parker.

The local office of the Center is located in the historic district of Texarkana, Arkansas. The office is developed in the historic home, which was purchased by Horace Jamison in the early 1900’s. The building itself is more than a century old and was originally occupied by an unknown family on June 19, 1900, the 37 year anniversary of Juneteenth (June 19, 1863), which is recognized as the date that blacks actually received the good news of the Emancipation Proclamation. This is significant in the Jamisons’ Center of Kindness community ties and values.
